Meet Troop 12’s amazing volunteer Scoutmasters.
Dan Buckley became Scoutmaster of Troop 12 in 2020. Prior to that he was an Assistant Scoutmaster since 2019, and the Treasurer/Secretary at Cub Scout Pack 12 Montclair since 2015. While Dan wasn’t a scout as a youth, he did spend a fair amount of time aimlessly wandering the woods in his back yard. His favorite part of the scouting experience is seeing the kids collaborating on a project, working together on a goal regardless if that goal is a multi-troop competition, a round robin race, or washing up after dinner. When not Scouting, you can find Dan working on yet another DIY project.
As a former Girl Scout and daughter of an Eagle Scout, Jennifer Bell was thrilled when her son decided to become a scout with Troop 12. A few months later, in 2017, she joined the troop’s committee and took on the role of Merit Badge Coordinator. As her son’s 18th birthday was approaching, she worked to open Troop 12’s doors to girls in 2023, becoming co-Scoutmaster with Dan Buckley. Heeding the call from scouts in the troop, Jen is currently leading a crew of scouts and adults to prepare for a 12-night backpacking trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in July 2026. She is eager to hear what scouts want to do next and help them achieve their goals.
