Camping
Camping: Camping is more than just an outdoor experience; it’s a vital component of Scouting. It exposes Scouts to the wonders of nature, teaching them respect for the environment. Under the stars, Scouts learn practical skills, from building shelters to navigating terrains. The unpredictable elements of the outdoors teach adaptability and resilience. More so, camping fosters camaraderie among peers, forging bonds that often last a lifetime. It’s a hands-on education, nurturing both the spirit of adventure and the discipline to thrive in the wilderness. Troop 12 plans a camping event each month, led by the senior scouts, who develop the schedule of activities, including patrol competitions, training and games. Scouts get hands on experience in cooking for themselves, working as a team, and having responsibility to their fellow scouts to ensure a successful trip.

Summer Camp
Scouts spent a mostly sunny week at Camp Keowa in the Catskills. Favorite activities included fishing the prime spot right next to our campsite, devising humorous skits and shenanigans, collecting critters, zip lining, rappelling, rifle shooting, deep frying various foods over a campfire, completing the mile swim and BSA Lifeguard certification, beating the staff in the Scoutmasters v. Staff softball match, and relaxing at our lakeside campsite.
