We are a BSA Scout Troop chartered by The Episcopal Church of Saint James in Montclair, New Jersey and associated with the Lenape Trail District of the Northern New Jersey Council.
Established in 1924, we’re one of the oldest active troops in the country. For 100 years, we’ve been helping our scouts achieve their potential as leaders and adults. We’re proud of the over 370 Eagle Scouts produced by Troop 12. 99 years after the troop was founded, we started Montclair’s first BSA troop for girls.
Our weekly troop meetings are held most Mondays during the school year, 7:00-8:45 PM at St James Church @ 581 Valley Rd Montclair, NJ 07043. Troop 12 Scouts have fun across a wide range of activities, including fire building, first aid, hiking, swimming, canoeing, fishing, conservation, and much more.
Our weekly Monday night meetings in Montclair and monthly camp-outs at Camp Glen Gray in Mahwah are complemented by community and conservation service, hikes and fun activities, such as axe throwing and fishing, and special trips to fun and historic sites such as Washington DC, Philadelphia, Boston and Six Flags Great Adventure.
For 20 years, the Scouts have spent a summer week at Camp Keowa, an official BSA camp in the Catskills in upstate New York, founded in 1924 by the New York City Boy Scout Foundation, then led by future President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
We cordially invite you to learn more about what Troop 12 has to offer. If you and your child are interested in character building, personal growth, outdoor activities, and fun, Troop 12 Montclair is the place to be.
