We will be cleaning up the church backyard. Please work gloves and wear long pants, as we will be pulling weeds.
Pizza and drinks will be provided both days. Please let GianLuca know if you can make it by texting him. (If you do not know GianLuca’s phone number, please get it from him, your Patrol Leader, or an adult Scout Master at our next Troop meeting – for security reasons, we cannot publish it on our web-site.)
Thank you for whatever time you can volunteer, any time put into helping out at Eagle Projects will be credited towards community service in your record.
The work for Justin Leong’s Eagle Scout Project was on June 3rd, 2017 at Essex County’s Brookdale Park. This project was to aid the Brookdale Park Conservation Society, by clearing an area in the park to install two planters for a Pine sapling nursery so that they could be properly protected while they matured until they could be transplanted around the park.
Scout Volunteers that showed up to help were:
Adults who helped:
Lori and Sunny Nischol
Sean and Sophia Leong
Who says you can’t have fun while helping your community?
Thanks to Scouts Justin L. and Peter B. for organizing the Thanksgiving Food Drive for the Human Needs Pantry. Here’s a picture of the haul in our screen room before delivery:
Here’s all the individual items. There was a total of 173 items
112 Cans of food
45Boxes of Pasta and other Dry goods
4 Boxes of Stuffing
12 Misc items
ASM Sean Leong and Scout Justin L. made the food delivery before Thanksgiving:
POST HOLIDAY DONATIONS
While most people make donations to the Food Pantry during the holidays, Human Needs actually has high need for food year round, hunger doesn’t discriminate. So the Troop made a second donation post-Christmas:
A $50 gift coupon from Scoutmaster Carl to Stop N’ Shop, netted the following:
8 boxes of pasta
3 jars of peanut butter
1 jar of jam
1 packet of rice
2 jars of pasta sauce
10 cans of tuna
5 cans of assorted beans
2 boxes of cereal
Special thanks to my wife, Sophia Leong for making all those runs to the local supermarkets for getting all of the post-Christmas food donations, including the following additional items:
2 cans of instant coffee
3 jars of peanut butter
1 bottle of cooking oil
10 boxes of pasta
Thanks again to all of the families that helped out on this food drive, The Troop strives to help give back to the community we call “home” as much as we can.
On Sunday, October 3oth, 2016, Jake Skorzewski and other several Scouts from Troop 12 met at his house to paint and assemble “hanging planters” for his Eagle Project. This is Part 1 of his project, and more on this will be posted on the site as we know more.
Jake Skorzewski (Eagle Candidate)
Congratulations Jake on a great start to your Eagle Project! And thank you and all your volunteers and Adult Advisors for helping your community. (Now onto the paperwork!)
On November 3rd, Sam Joslyn passed his Eagle Board of Review at Eagle Advisor, Marguerite Guistina’s house. His Board consisted of ASM Mike Brown, ASM Sean Leong, Chairman John Hartinger, and our favorite BSA District Representative, John Picinich.
Congratulations to Jack Brandon, our latest Scout to complete his community project for his Eagle Rank! This past Saturday, 9/17/2016 he and his fellow Scouts worked with the Brookdale Park Conservancy to beautify the entrance to Brookdale Park’s Bellevue Avenue entrance.
Jack Brandon (Eagle Candidate)
The project beautified the ground cover around the entrance signage, and cleared away a lot of the overgrown foliage and canopy around it so that the pathways around that area could get more light.
Congratulations Jack and great job from you and all your volunteers and Adult Advisors. (Now onto the paperwork!)
